When puppies are born, they rely on their mother’s unconditional love and care to grow into happy, healthy pups.
Sadly, some little ones don’t get to experience this precious bond.
Koby, a sweet Pit Bull mix, was one of those puppies who was taken from his mother far too soon.
His breeders, who cared more about purity than love, abandoned Koby and his siblings outside a South Carolina shelter because they weren’t purebred Pit Bulls.
The tiny pups longed for the warmth of their mother’s embrace, but instead, they were left huddled together in a cold cardboard box, waiting for someone to offer them the love and kindness they deserved.
A Fresh Start
The moment the shelter staff found the puppies, they welcomed them with open arms.
As the pups were in a kill shelter, Ollie’s Angels Animal Rescue, a loving non-profit in New York, stepped in to give them a chance at a better life.
In 2021, a newlywed couple, Steven and Jessica, were looking to adopt a dog, and they found themselves at the rescue.
It was love at first sight when they met a sweet, tan Pit Bull puppy named Koby.
From the very first moment they held him, Koby formed an undeniable bond with Steven and Jessica.
“The first time we got to hold him, he just melted into our arms,” Steven shared with GeoBeats Animals.
That very day, they knew Koby was meant to be part of their family, and they brought him home to begin his new life.
Koby needed a little time to settle into his new life. The sweet puppy struggled to sleep during his first few nights, feeling uneasy in his new surroundings.
To help him feel more at ease, his parents gave him a special stuffed animal that was warm and had a heartbeat. It worked wonders. Koby found comfort in the toy, and soon, he was feeling much more relaxed.
This little guy is all about love. He loves curling up in his dad’s lap, happily snuggling with him on the couch.
Before Koby became part of their family, Steven had no idea just how much Pit Bulls crave cuddles from their humans.
However, Steven and Jessica quickly gave Koby all the love he could ever need, treating him like their own child.
This sweet little pup just wants to be by his parents’ side at all times, and when he can’t be with them, his heart breaks a little.
His parents can always sense how he’s feeling just by looking into his eyes.
“It’s like seeing a person. You can tell exactly what he’s feeling just by the look in his eyes,” Jessica shared with GeoBeats Animals.
Koby’s Deep Love for His Parents
Both Steven and Jessica could see how Koby’s separation from his mom at such a young age affected him. He missed the warmth of her love and the comfort of her presence.
But in return, Koby pours all his love into his human parents.
The sweet pup quickly became very protective of his mom during her pregnancy. He was always by her side, ensuring she was okay. He would often rest his head gently on her belly, keeping watch over both her and the little one.
Though Koby adores his mom, his heart belongs to his dad. Every day, he waits by the window, eyes full of anticipation for his dad’s return from work.
As soon as Steven walks through the door, Koby can’t help but run to greet him, showering him with endless hugs and kisses.
To Steven, Koby is like a son. He cherishes the way Koby greets him after a long day. He and Jessica can’t imagine life without their beloved boy, who fills their home with so much love.
“He’s become such a big part of my daily life. After a tough day at work, it’s great coming home to my beautiful wife, but it’s also comforting knowing I’ll be greeted by someone who’s always excited to see me, showering me with hugs and kisses,” Steven shared.
Koby often shares updates on Instagram, giving a glimpse into his dream life with his family. The loving pup has embraced his role as a proud big brother to his human sister. He’s always there, watching over her with an abundance of love.
