Say-Eye Dog Trapped in Cement Hole Finally Rescued, Finds His Perfect Family

Trapped in a cement hole in Fresno, California, a dog named Leroy craned his head up to the sky, hoping for someone to notice him and come to his rescue.

Soon enough, Leroy caught the attention of a photographer who was snapping pictures nearby in the abandoned lot. Concerned for his safety, the photographer immediately reached out to animal control for help.

Animal control arrived quickly, climbed into the hole, and safely lifted Leroy out of the dangerous situation. Despite the ordeal, Leroy remained calm and affectionate, showing his appreciation for the people who had finally noticed him.

A New Beginning for Leroy

The rescue group Compassion Without Borders took Leroy in, and the staff was amazed by his kind and resilient nature.

“He was very sweet from the moment he was rescued,” Christi Camblor, Compassion Without Borders’ executive director and cofounder, told The Dodo.

After rescuing Leroy, veterinarian Christi Camblor and her husband began fostering him, tending to his medical needs. As the days went by, they both felt an undeniable bond with the dog, sensing that Leroy was meant to be a part of their family.

“It was love at first sight!” said Camblor. “I just knew we wouldn’t be able to let him go.”

A month later, the Camblor family officially adopted Leroy. Today, he is a happy, playful pup, thriving with his mom and dad. Leroy enjoys participating in fun photoshoots and all sorts of exciting activities.

“He is silly, playful, loving, and very engaging,” said Camblor. “He loves playing with toys, hanging out with his dog brothers and sisters, napping, and basking in the backyard sun.”
