Stuck at the bottom of a concrete trench in Fresno, California, a dog named Leroy looked up, hoping someone would see him.
Luckily, a photographer passing through the abandoned lot noticed the pup and grew worried for his safety. Acting quickly, the photographer alerted local animal control.

Soon after, responders arrived and carefully climbed into the hole to lift Leroy out. Despite everything he had been through, Leroy remained calm and sweet, clearly thankful to be surrounded by kind people.
A New Beginning for Leroy
He was taken in by Compassion Without Borders, where his gentle spirit immediately stood out.
“He was just so kind from the beginning,” said Christi Camblor, the group’s executive director and cofounder.

Camblor, who is also a veterinarian, decided to foster Leroy and manage his health care. As time passed, she and her husband started to feel something deeper.
“It felt like he was meant to be with us,” Camblor shared. “We just couldn’t imagine letting him go.”

After about a month, Leroy was officially adopted by the Camblor family. He now enjoys a joyful life filled with love, play, and sunshine.
“He’s playful, affectionate, and just full of personality,” Camblor said. “He loves squeaky toys, goofing around with the other dogs, lounging in the sun, and joining fun photo sessions.”

Now safe and cherished, Leroy is thriving in the kind of life every dog dreams of — one filled with warmth, fun, and endless love.
