Logan has always been an exceptional companion, whether to his fellow furry friends or the forever family he would eventually find.
His story began in Texas, where he was discovered as a stray with a pregnant mate. Despite the harsh circumstances, Logan chose to remain by her side while she gave birth, demonstrating loyalty and love that would soon define his character.
When the puppies were finally born, a rescue group arrived to take the mother and her six puppies to safety. Sadly, they decided that Logan wasn’t worth saving and left him behind, putting him on the risk of being euthanized.
It was a heartbreaking moment, but this wasn’t the end for Logan.
The Miracle of Logan’s Rescue
Logan found himself in a Texas shelter known for high euthanasia rates, his fate seemingly sealed. However, one kind-hearted shelter worker saw something special in Logan. She couldn’t bear to see him put down and managed to delay his euthanasia date twice, giving Logan the precious time he needed to be saved.
In that critical window, Logan was transported to a shelter in Colorado. Not long after, he was adopted by a compassionate couple who recognized the gentle soul within him.
“We went to meet him, and I remember walking away. So, we just met our dog. He was skinny, scared, timid, and all those things,” Alison Dickson, Logan’s new mom, shared with GeoBeats Animals.
Logan’s first days in his new home were filled with uncertainty. He was cautious, worried that any misstep might lead to abandonment once again.
But his new family, lovers of nature, decided to introduce him to the beauty of the Colorado wilderness. They took him hiking, and it was on those trails that Logan began to blossom.
With each hike, Logan’s confidence grew. He began to understand that this family was his forever home, a place where he was loved unconditionally and where he could finally let go of his fears.
“He is such a great athlete. He knows when my hiking bag comes out, and he just gets excited,” Alison said, beaming with pride.
A Guardian Emerges
After Logan’s adoption, the family expanded, bringing in another rescued dog named Phoenix, along with two cats, Milo and Lucy.
Phoenix, described by Alison, “Phoenix is the snuggliest little ball of sunshine that has no idea that she’s a rescue at all,”
She was the ideal new family member. Logan bonded with her instantly, and they quickly became inseparable. They even got along well with the cats.
Alison works from home while her husband often travels for work. When her husband is away, Logan takes his role as protector very seriously.
“He loves him so much. It’s almost like Logan thinks he works for my husband. When my husband is traveling, Logan will sleep on the side of the couch that faces the door. He’s going to be a little bit more aware of everything and a lot more watchful when my husband is not there, ” Alison remarked.
Alison often compares Logan to Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings—a guardian with a profound sense of duty and deep emotional intelligence.
Since his adoption, Logan has explored many new places, and his once-sad eyes are now bright with happiness.
“From a stray on the streets of Texas to the EUTHANASIA list in a shelter (💔!!) to the wonderful people and rescue that got him to us…my world is a tremendously better place for having Logan in it,” Alison wrote in an emotional Instagram post.
