Dog Found Eating Garbage Completely Transforms With A Little Love

When a senior dog named Abby was found wandering the streets in September, she was frail, nearly bald, and trying to survive by eating trash.

Animal control officers who found her were immediately concerned. Estimated to be between 10 and 12 years old, Abby was clearly in worse shape than they could manage alone. That’s when they reached out to the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana, hoping she’d get the second chance she deserved.

The Road to Recovery

From the moment rescuers met Abby, they were stunned by how much pain she had endured. She was battling untreated infections in her ears and skin, had a broken hind leg, and showed signs of long-term neglect. But even in that state, they saw the potential for transformation — and they were ready to help her heal.

“She needed daily medicated baths, medications for infections, and a whole lot of TLC,” said Sarrah Walton from the Humane Society. “Every day, she got a little stronger thanks to the love and attention she was finally receiving.”

Abby went through multiple treatments and even underwent surgery — but the results were worth every effort. In time, she began to feel better and started showing her sweet, spunky personality. Her transformation was nothing short of remarkable.

A New Beginning

From a sad, sickly pup barely clinging to life, Abby has become a happy, confident little dog with a fluffy coat and a heart full of joy. She now rules the small dog area at the shelter and loves cuddling with volunteers.

“She’s doing amazing,” Walton shared. “Abby is full of sass and affection. She loves being the center of attention and truly adores her people.”

With just one final treatment left, Abby is almost ready to start the next chapter of her life — finding a forever home. After everything she’s been through, her friends at the shelter are confident the perfect family is just around the corner.
