New School Bus Brings Dogs to the Park Every Day for Fun Adventures

In Calgary, Alberta, Canada, yellow buses are a familiar sight as they transport children to school every day. But there’s one bus that stands out and is stealing the spotlight.

Instead of carrying lively children, the powder-blue Ruff and Puff bus transports eager dogs to the park every morning — and these fluffy passengers are always excited for their ride.

“Once they can hear the bus is coming, a lot of them will wait by the window for me,” said Denzel Morrison, founder of Ruff and Puff, in an interview with The Dodo. “They’re really happy to see the bus come.”

The Dogs’ Favorite Ride

The dogs jump straight into their favorite seats, eager to begin another fun-filled adventure.

Morrison started Ruff and Puff in 2020, imagining it would be a great way to spend his days with dogs in the city.

“I saw a video of a guy driving a yellow van full of dogs, and it looked kind of like a school bus,” Morrison told Calgary’s CTV News. “And I was like, ‘Wow, that does actually look like a great job.’”

The Dog-Friendly School Bus

Morrison bought a school bus and turned it into a canine-friendly ride, complete with sliding gates and harness attachments to keep the dogs safe and comfy.

Ruff and Puff quickly began picking up dogs of all shapes and sizes and took them to nearby private fenced parks for some off-leash fun.

When the weather heats up, the Ruff and Puff crew heads to a local water park where the pups enjoy splashing around in wading pools.

In winter, the dogs love to romp in the fluffy snow. After about an hour of play, the dogs return to the bus, tired but happy, ready to head home.

Puppuccinos and Relaxation

By the time they get back, the dogs are usually worn out, but Morrison and his teammate, Becky, have one last treat for them: Puppuccinos.

“We get our Puppuccinos, then they’re pretty much in snooze mode,” Morrison said.

Sometimes, the team celebrates a doggy birthday on the bus. No matter the occasion, the pups and their camp counselors make every day an adventure.

Ruff and Puff hope to expand their dog-loving crew soon. The more, the merrier when it comes to bus rides to the best dog parks in town.

For Morrison, it’s exactly how he envisioned spending his days — surrounded by happy, excited dogs.

“Seeing them really pumped, just staring at the bus,” Morrison said. “I love that.”
