Meet Erik, a lovable 7-month-old dog who lives with his best friend, Flora Neilson, in the UK.
When he’s peacefully sleeping, Erik looks like the definition of calm — but don’t be tricked. This little guy has a much more mischievous side.
“I think, perhaps, he’s been bred with a monkey,” Neilson joked. “He’s always sniffing and hunting for anything he can grab, just like a toddler. I have to keep a close eye on him.”
And here’s a perfect example of what Flora often finds when she doesn’t:
Erik’s Destructive Side
Erik’s boundless energy doesn’t just result in chaos — it can also lead to some surprisingly creative moments.
One day, while Flora wasn’t looking, Erik found a new “chew toy” among her belongings — a brown permanent marker. He eagerly took it to the couch and managed to pop the cap off.
The end result? A surprisingly skilled self-portrait by Erik:
At first, Flora just saw a mess, and of course, she muttered a few choice words. But when she took a second look, something clicked. The “mess” was actually something pretty special.
“I didn’t notice his accidental self-portrait until a few hours later,” Neilson said. “I wasn’t mad.”
It was just Erik being Erik.
Embracing the Chaos
Neilson wasn’t in any hurry to clean up the couch cover, and honestly, she didn’t mind if the portrait stayed there forever. It’s just one of those quirky moments that come with being the best friend to a curious puppy. She gets it.
“If I were to get mad at him for everything he does, I’d be mad all day,” Neilson said.
