Stray Dog Freed After Days With Head Stuck In Cheese Ball Bucket

Life on the streets is never gentle. For stray dogs, every day is a test of survival — searching for scraps, dodging danger, and hoping for kindness in a world that often overlooks them. One little dog in Pennsylvania faced an even greater struggle when she became trapped inside a giant cheese ball bucket.

A Pup In A Desperate Situation

The young pup wandered the area with the container locked tightly over her head, unable to reach food or water.

Terrified and disoriented, she pawed at the plastic but couldn’t shake it loose. Each passing hour weakened her, and with no way to breathe freely, her condition became more urgent.

Neighbors who saw the pup from a distance knew she was in serious trouble. They reached out for help, hoping someone would have the skills and patience to save her before it was too late.

The dog’s fight for survival was only just beginning, but a community was about to come together in an incredible way.

Rescuers Rally To Save A Helpless Dog

On August 17, 2025, Canine Rescue of Central PA (CRCPA) received calls about the struggling pup. Volunteers immediately understood the danger she was facing.

With her airway, food, and water cut off, time was running short.

Beth Miller, one of the rescue’s longtime helpers, voiced the urgency in an interview: “It was wedged far enough down her neck that she couldn’t get it off, and she wasn’t drinking or eating. We feared she might not make it.”

Teams from CRCPA joined forces with FIND TOBY in PA, an organization experienced in locating lost animals. Together, they combed the fields and roadsides, following reports of sightings.

The frightened pup, however, refused to trust humans. Whenever the volunteers came close, she darted back into the cornfields, vanishing into the tall stalks.

Realizing they needed more eyes, the rescue issued a public plea on Facebook, asking locals to report any movement.

The community responded, and soon after, a new set of volunteers joined in the search. Among them were drone experts Bill Fisher from Drone Deployment Services, LLC, and Dallas Fuhrman of Nighthawk Drone Services.

In the quiet hours of August 20, around 3 a.m., Fuhrman’s drone finally spotted her deep inside a cornfield.

Exhausted and weak, the little dog staggered helplessly with the jar still stuck tight. The rescuers approached carefully, whispering to calm her trembling body.

After days of fear and hunger, she was finally freed.

In honor of the man who located her, the dog was named Dallas. To lighten the painful ordeal, rescuers added the playful middle name Cheddar, a nod to the snack bucket that nearly cost her life.

Healing, Hope, And A Future Ahead

Once the container was removed, Dallas was immediately taken to Shores Veterinary Emergency Center. The staff discovered she was crawling with ticks and had been severely dehydrated.

She received urgent medical care and was stabilized with gentle hands and patient voices.

Despite the suffering she had endured, Dallas surprised everyone with her sweetness.

Instead of shrinking away, she leaned into her rescuers, nuzzling close as if she finally understood she was safe.

The medical team introduced her to a special feeding plan with small, steady meals to prevent complications from refeeding.

Soon, she was placed in the care of a foster mother who welcomed her with open arms. In the quiet safety of a warm home, Dallas curled up on soft blankets and began to rebuild her strength.

Her foster family fed her, bathed her, and gave her the love she had been missing for so long.

For now, Dallas is not available for adoption. The rescue is working diligently to determine whether she has an original family searching for her.

In the meantime, she will continue to rest and recover in foster care.

The team at Canine Rescue of Central PA expressed deep gratitude for the countless people who came together — from drone pilots and volunteers to neighbors and online supporters.

Without their combined effort, Dallas may not have survived.

Her story is more than just a rescue tale; it’s a reminder of the compassion that still exists in communities. A group of strangers united by kindness turned tragedy into hope.

Dallas has been given the gift of another chance at life, and with every wag of her tail, she shows just how thankful she is.
