When a schoolteacher named Rebecca spotted Olivia and Sherlock wandering the streets of Central California in search of food, she knew she couldn’t turn away.
Olivia was wary and kept her distance, refusing to let Rebecca get close.
Sherlock, on the other hand, was much friendlier. It didn’t take long for him to trust the kind woman.
Rebecca had a feeling the bonded pair was keeping a secret—one that involved tiny paws. She was determined to uncover it and bring them all to safety.
So, she came up with a brilliant plan to reveal what Olivia and Sherlock had been hiding.
Finding the Hidden Puppies

Rebecca carefully placed a GPS tracker on Sherlock, hoping he would lead her to the truth. Before long, she discovered the spot where Olivia and Sherlock were hiding their eight puppies.
Knowing she couldn’t do this alone, Rebecca reached out to Hope For Paws, a well-known animal rescue in Los Angeles. She urged them to help this little canine family.
But there was another problem—Sherlock had been hit by a car while searching for food. His leg was injured, and he was in pain. Rebecca pleaded for the rescuers to bring medication for him.
Eldad and his team wasted no time and set off to help.
After a four-hour drive, they arrived at the rescue location late at night.
Eldad handed Rebecca the medication she requested.
Not wanting to startle the little family, they decided to wait until morning to begin the rescue.
At sunrise, Rebecca and the team returned to where the dogs were hiding and got to work.
Eldad tried to win over Olivia and Sherlock by offering them food.
The puppies, however, remained wary. Their little eyes watched from a safe distance, uncertain of what was happening.
Rescuing the Family

The rescuers set up a large enclosure to safely capture Olivia and Sherlock.
They placed a crate inside, hoping to make the dogs feel more at ease. Speaking to them gently, the team continued feeding them while slowly guiding them into position. Then, using a net, they carefully cornered them.

Olivia quickly realized they were trying to contain her. Panicked, she attempted to flee.
But before she could escape, the team skillfully slipped a leash around her neck and placed her in a crate.
With Olivia and Sherlock safely secured, the rescuers could now turn their attention to the puppies. These little ones had never interacted with humans before, and their fear was evident.
One brave pup surrendered quickly, allowing himself to be caught.

The others, however, bolted for cover. They were too scared to move.
The team had an idea—they brought Olivia closer, hoping she would encourage her babies to come out.
When the puppies saw their mother, they couldn’t resist the pull of love. Slowly, they inched toward her.

One by one, the rescuers secured each puppy. Soon, only one remained. Overwhelmed by fear, he dashed back into the den.
But he wasn’t alone for long. Moments later, Eldad and his team found him crying out for his mother. Gently, they scooped him up and placed him in the vehicle with his family.
A New Beginning for the Pups

With the entire family safe, the rescuers drove them straight to the vet.
The pups were given food and a warm, soothing bath.
Since they were born in an agricultural area, the team named them Strawberry, Cherry, Kiwi, Clementine, Peaches, Mango, Lemon, and Banana.
Sherlock’s X-ray revealed he had a dislocated hip. Surgery was the only option for him to heal properly.
Three days after their rescue, Olivia and the puppies finally felt at ease. They wagged their tails, played with toys, and enjoyed the company of their new caregivers.

Before his operation, Sherlock had a chance to reunite with Olivia and the pups. Their tails wagged excitedly as they welcomed him back.
LA Animal Rescue stepped in to foster the entire family, ensuring they would be well cared for until they found forever homes.
There’s no doubt that Olivia, Sherlock, and their little ones will soon find loving families who will cherish them for a lifetime.
