On a cold day in Romania, a tiny puppy was left behind in an empty parking lot. His only protection from the wind and rain was a cardboard box, softening as it grew damp.
With no houses nearby and no humans to comfort him, the young dog curled into himself, hoping the box could somehow keep him safe.
Hours turned into days, and though his body shivered with hunger and cold, he clung to the small space as his only shield from the world.
A Lonely Pup Left In A Box
The area was deserted — no families, no villages, not even a passerby on foot. It was pure chance that a few drivers happened to notice the frightened face peeking out of the soggy box.
Shocked by his condition, they snapped a photo and posted it online.
That single act changed everything.
Animal rescuer Alexandra Sava, founder of Sava’s Safe Haven, spotted the desperate post and knew she had to act immediately.
Without hesitation, she gathered supplies and set out to find him.

When Alexandra arrived, the sight broke her heart. The puppy refused to leave the box, barking loudly as if trying to warn her away.
Though barely three months old, he had already learned that humans could not be trusted. Each time she reached out, he darted back into the soggy shelter, crouching low in fear.
The trembling pup clearly believed the fragile box was safer than the hands trying to save him.
Fear And First Steps Toward Trust
Despite his fear, Alexandra remained patient. She crouched low, spoke softly, and let him see that she meant no harm.
At last, the puppy allowed her close enough to pick him up. His body was icy to the touch, his fur damp from the freezing weather.
Alexandra quickly carried him to her car and drove him to a veterinarian.

At the clinic, the staff worked to warm his tiny frame. They treated him for fleas and ticks and gave him a clean, dry bed to rest.
Though still frightened, the puppy began to relax in the warmth of the clinic. The team decided to call him Petrisor, a name that would mark the beginning of his new journey.
Back at the shelter, Petrisor began the slow process of learning to trust again. He clung closely to Alexandra, following her to the food bowl and water dish, always wanting the reassurance of her presence.
Though he would grow into a large dog one day, in that moment, he was still just a vulnerable baby looking for someone to protect him.

From Abandonment To Hopeful Future
With time, Petrisor started to adjust to life at the shelter. He watched the other dogs, studied their playful movements, and cautiously tried to join in.
Every day, he grew a little braver, though the hurt of abandonment still lingered.
His rescuers could see it in his eyes — the disappointment, the lingering doubt about whether people could truly be trusted again.

But progress was clear. Petrisor wagged his tail more often and leaned into gentle touches. He learned that not every human would walk away.
Surrounded by care and patience, he slowly began to understand that love could be permanent. Alexandra and her team promised to give him the time he needed to heal, both inside and out.
Once he is fully vaccinated and neutered, Petrisor will be ready for adoption. Sava’s Safe Haven is open to finding him a family not only in Romania but anywhere in the world.
For now, he is safe, warm, and surrounded by people determined to make him feel valued.

From the cardboard box in a lonely parking lot to the warmth of a shelter filled with kindness, Petrisor’s journey is proof that hope can rise from even the darkest beginnings.
One day soon, a forever family will see the light in his eyes and give him the life every puppy deserves — a life filled with comfort, joy, and unconditional love.
