Selina Dey, a dedicated solo dog rescuer from Bali, Indonesia, is well-acquainted with saving animals in desperate situations.
One day, while riding her scooter, she was drawn to a desperate, high-pitched cry coming from the roadside.
She stopped and followed the sound to a nearby ditch. There, trapped among thick brush and perched on a concrete slab, was a tiny, wrinkled pink puppy wagging her tail.
The little pup was too small to climb out alone. Without hesitation, Dey carefully climbed down, scooped her up, and placed her gently into an empty shopping bag. From that instant, the puppy had found a place in her heart.
Urgent Care Amidst Challenges
The puppy, soon named Jenny, needed immediate medical attention. However, it was Nyepi—the Balinese day of silence—and all veterinary clinics and pharmacies on the island were closed. Unfazed, Dey hurried home and began treating Jenny with supplies she had on hand.
Jenny received her first medicated bath and was showered with affection. When the island reopened, she underwent a thorough veterinary checkup and started her official recovery. Though the initial weeks brought pain and sleepless nights, Jenny always found solace in Dey’s comforting presence.
Recovery and Growth
Gradually, Jenny’s health improved. Her playful nature blossomed, and as her fur grew back, her stunning coat and vibrant personality shone through. Dey likened her recovery to a flower blooming—her true self emerging alongside her healing body.
Now thriving in Dey’s care, Jenny enjoys the love of her foster family and gets along beautifully with the other dogs. She delights in attention and loves being the center of affection. While she patiently awaits her forever home, Jenny is happily surrounded by love and care.
