When Kristen Lee met a block-headed dog with soft brown eyes at an adoption event three years ago, something inside her clicked.
She couldn’t explain it — it was as if she’d stumbled upon a missing piece of her life. The big pup leaned against her leg with quiet trust, and from that moment on, she knew he was hers.
A Bond That Felt Meant To Be
Remi wasn’t just another rescue dog.
He had a way of making the world slow down around him. His size might have been intimidating to some, but Kristen only saw the gentleness behind his broad frame.
Bringing him home was one of the easiest decisions she ever made. What she didn’t know then was that this dog, who once needed saving, would soon become a savior to others.

For a long time, Kristen thought Remi would be happiest as her only companion. He loved people, but the presence of other adult dogs made him uneasy.
Then life changed.
A move to a house with more space gave her a new sense of possibility — and a new idea. She decided to open her home to foster puppies from PJ’s Rescue, tiny souls abandoned too young to fend for themselves.
A Gentle Giant Becomes a Teacher
When the first puppy arrived, Kristen braced herself. She took things slow, introducing the little one carefully, ready to step in at any sign of fear or jealousy.
But Remi surprised her. Instead of tension, he showed tenderness.

The big dog quietly approached the trembling puppy, gave a gentle sniff, and wagged his tail. It was as if he instantly understood his new role.
Kristen watched in awe as her loyal dog transformed into a patient, protective big brother.
From that day forward, every foster who entered their home found comfort in Remi’s presence.
The Dog Who Raises Puppies
One by one, more puppies came and went.
Each time, Kristen noticed something remarkable. The new arrivals followed Remi everywhere — copying how he walked, how he stretched, even how he sat with his back legs splayed out to the side in that funny, lazy way of his.
It became a household joke: no puppy left their home without learning “the Remi sit.”

Remi’s tenderness was endless. During playtime, he moved with slow, deliberate care, careful not to knock the little ones over.
Kristen often laughed when she saw him yawn and the curious puppies poked their noses right into his mouth, utterly fascinated by their giant friend.
Through his patience, Remi taught them trust, showing them that the world wasn’t all fear and loneliness.

Today, Kristen can’t imagine her fostering journey without him. He isn’t just her dog — he’s her helper, her teacher, and her heart.
“Fostering would be so much harder without Remi,” she often says.
Watching him nurture those fragile puppies reminds her of why she started rescuing in the first place — because love, once shared, only grows stronger.
