Couple Discovers a Dockside “Kissing Booth” Run by a Rescue Dog in Florida

The morning sun had just begun to rise over the quiet harbor of Key West, Florida, painting the water in soft shades of gold and blue.

Delaney and her fiancé, Carl, were strolling hand in hand, enjoying the salty breeze and the gentle sound of waves slapping against the docks.

They had planned this early walk as a peaceful start to their day — a chance to slow down and take in the calm beauty of the sea before the crowds arrived.

A Morning Walk Turns Into a Heartwarming Surprise

As they admired a shrimp boat moored nearby, a splash of bright pink caught Delaney’s eye.

A handmade sign hung above one of the boat’s small windows, the words scrawled in bold, playful letters. It read: “Kissing Booth — Call Luna.”

Delaney laughed, nudging Carl’s shoulder. The phrase was so unexpected, it took them a moment to understand what it meant.

But then she remembered the sweet dog they’d seen earlier basking in the morning light on the boat’s deck.

“It must be her,” she thought, excitement rising. The thought of a real-life doggie kissing booth was too adorable to resist.

Meeting Luna, the Dog Who Steals Hearts

Delaney and Carl leaned over the dock railing and called out the name written on the sign. “Luna!” Delaney’s voice echoed softly across the water.

Within seconds, a pair of eager eyes and a happy black-and-white muzzle appeared in the porthole.

Luna’s whole face seemed to light up with joy. Her tail thumped somewhere out of sight, and she let out a few cheerful barks, thrilled to have visitors.

“She came right up to us like she’d been waiting all morning,” Delaney later recalled. “We held out a small treat, but she wasn’t even interested — she just wanted love.”

Luna pressed her nose through the opening, her tongue darting out in greeting. Carl couldn’t help laughing as the enthusiastic pup showered them both with affection.

It was obvious that this was no ordinary boat dog. Luna was a professional greeter — confident, sweet, and completely devoted to making strangers smile.

As the couple crouched down beside the boat, Luna’s owner appeared nearby, amused by the joyful scene unfolding before him.

He introduced himself and told them Luna’s story.

She hadn’t always lived such a carefree life. Before finding her forever home, Luna had been a rescue at the Humane Society of St. Lucie County. The man had adopted her months earlier and discovered that she had an incredible gift — an endless capacity to love everyone she met.

“People stop here all the time just to say hello,” her dad explained proudly. “She’s got more friends than I do.”

Delaney’s sister and best friend soon joined in, and for the next ten minutes, Luna’s “kissing booth” became the center of attention.

Laughter mixed with the sound of seagulls and the gentle rocking of the boat as the pup soaked up every bit of affection she could get.

A Short Visit They’ll Never Forget

Eventually, it was time to move on. The family had other plans for the day, but saying goodbye wasn’t easy. Luna rested her chin on the window’s edge, gazing at them as if she knew their visit was ending.

Her eyes seemed to sparkle, filled with a warmth that made it hard to walk away.

“I was a little nervous she might slip out through the hole because she leaned so far toward us,” Delaney admitted with a laugh. “But she knew exactly what she was doing. She’s clearly done this before.”

For Delaney and Carl, who missed their own dogs back home, those few minutes with Luna felt like a gift.

Traveling often meant leaving their furry companions behind, something that always tugged at their hearts. Meeting Luna — a dog so full of love, living happily on a sunny boat — filled that gap, even if just for a moment.

When they finally continued down the dock, Delaney couldn’t stop smiling.

She turned back one last time to see Luna still watching them, tail wagging as if to say goodbye. “That little encounter made our whole trip,” she later said. “It reminded us how pure and comforting a dog’s love can be, even from a stranger’s pet.”

Back home, Delaney shared the story with her followers, along with photos of the cheerful pup peeking through her porthole window.

The response was overwhelming. People from all over the country wrote messages about how much they wished they could visit Luna’s kissing booth too.

For a dog who once faced an uncertain future, Luna had become an ambassador of happiness — her small pink sign welcoming travelers to slow down, smile, and remember that kindness can appear in the most unexpected places.

Whether lounging on her sunny deck or greeting new friends from her boat window, Luna proves that joy doesn’t need a grand stage. Sometimes, it’s just a gentle nose pressed against the glass, asking for one more kiss.
