Tika went from hopeless to lucky in just one day.
This fragile, skeletal dog was near death, barely clinging to life. Severely emaciated and covered in wounds from a brutal animal attack, she had already given up on the possibility of survival. Her future seemed all but gone… until a compassionate Border Patrol agent crossed her path.
A Miracle Rescue
When the Border Patrol agent first found Tika, it was truly heartbreaking. The left side of her face had been torn away, leaving her vulnerable to a dangerous infection.
“Sweet, TIKA was rescued by a Border Patrol agent in her last minutes on earth…she was agonizing,” The Buddy Foundation, based in Eagle Pass, Texas, shared on Facebook.
The details of the attack remain unclear, but the extent of Tika’s injuries was undeniable.
Without hesitation, the agent rushed her to a Texas shelter, saving Tika’s life in the nick of time. Had it been just one more day in the wild, she wouldn’t have made it.
“Tika is a walking miracle, and we’re so glad we found her when we did. She would not have survived another day out there in the condition she was in,” her rescuers said.
Tika still had a long road ahead. Unable to eat or stand on her own, she was transferred to a local veterinary clinic for expert care.
For the first ten days, Tika remained on IV fluids, receiving round-the-clock attention. Slowly, thanks to the unwavering care from her team, she started to improve.
The moment she ate from a syringe for the first time was nothing short of miraculous. It marked the beginning of her recovery, a sign that Tika would conquer her battle and emerge victorious.
And what a victory it was!
Introducing Princess Tika
After days of resting on a cozy blanket at the Texas rescue, Tika took her first steps. This was a sign that she was ready for the next chapter: a foster home.
The rescue connected her with a wonderful foster mom, who opened her heart to this tiny girl. Tika blossomed in her new home, making friends and finding comfort in her surroundings. She became the little princess she was always meant to be.
She adored every part of her new life, including the doggy bed prepared just for her.
However, Tika faced one more hurdle. She was diagnosed with canine epilepsy, causing occasional seizures. But Tika refuses to let this define her. She’s a happy, spirited pup who treasures her new life.
Tika is endlessly grateful for the people who saved her life.
“She’s so grateful for everyone that came together to save her little life just in time. Today, she is alive and happy,” her rescuers shared.
Her sweet nature and love for life have helped her conquer each challenge. They even helped her foster mom realize Tika was meant to be part of her family.
After a few months in her foster home, Tika was adopted. She now has a loving family and a forever home.
Tika has left her painful past behind and finally knows what it feels like to be loved. And she couldn’t be happier!
