The rescuers' hearts shattered as they approached the mattress where the three friends lay trembling. Cooper, Trixi, and Bruno pressed closer together, their eyes wide with fear and confusion.

"He is a perfect dog," said Brenda Heitschmidt, who officially adopted Cooper. "Many will say how lucky he is to be with us, however, we feel we are truly the lucky ones."
