Shelter Dog’s Joy Is Contagious As New Mom Fills Out Forms To Take Her Home

Luna’s past is a mystery, but her future is now set. Earlier this month, she was found as a stray, wandering the streets of Florida, and taken in by Walton County Animal Services.

Once placed in a shelter kennel, Luna’s fate seemed just as uncertain.

But that uncertainty is now behind her.

A New Hope

After spending 11 days at the shelter, a stranger walked in, hoping to adopt a dog—and Luna instantly captured her heart. This moment would mark the beginning of Luna’s new life.

As her new mom filled out the adoption paperwork, Luna looked on, tail wagging in excitement, already anticipating the happy life that awaited her.

“It was incredible to witness. Just incredible,” Patty Weingartner, the shelter manager, shared with The Dodo. “It’s like she knows. She’s wagging her tail and looking as proud as can be.”

A Brighter Future

On that day, Luna left the shelter and stepped into her forever home, her future brighter than ever.

“Her new family absolutely adores her,” Weingartner said. “People don’t realize how much these animals need human interaction. When you witness moments like this, you realize we really do make a difference. People just need to give them a chance. Dogs are happiest in their own home, offering unconditional love.”
