Rescued Pup Can’t Stop Smiling As Family Throws Her A Special Birthday Party

On the day of her adoption, Kona — a rescued pittie mix — dedicated herself to bringing happiness into her forever home.

As a puppy, she always played with her mom, Collyn, and everyone who stepped through their door.

Whether she was chasing after toys or snuggling up with her family for a cozy nap, Kona always brightened everyone’s day.

Embracing New Roles

Over the next seven years, the sweet girl’s household experienced many changes, but her commitment to spreading joy remained unwavering.

“She has made every day since then better,” Collyn shared on Instagram.

After a year of being their sole fur child, Kona’s family welcomed another puppy, Mako. Kona embraced her new role as a big sister wholeheartedly, swapping her playful spirit for a more nurturing demeanor.

Shortly after Mako got comfortable, Kona and her family opened their hearts to a succession of foster pups — each one just as lovable as the last. While Mako engaged in playtime, Kona ensured her temporary siblings were well-cared for, secure, and following the rules.

And she consistently checked in with her mom at the end of each day.

A Birthday Celebration Like No Other

Kona’s favorite moments with her family were during celebrations. From donning Halloween costumes to joining her parents on their wedding day, Kona was overjoyed whenever she could be a part of someone else’s special occasion, so much so that Collyn decided to throw a party just for her.

When Kona celebrated her 7th birthday a few weeks ago, Collyn surprised her with a bright pink bandana, a sparkling tiara, and a visit from all her best friends. That evening, a gathering of her favorite people sang a birthday song and presented her with her very first cake.

“I finally gave in and got her a dog birthday cake for the first time,” Collyn posted on Instagram. “She loved it.”

The sweet girl was overjoyed by her birthday surprise. She already cherished every other day spent with her family and friends, but knowing she was loved made her smile even wider.

“She was trying to hold back her excitement and not eat the cake because I asked her to wait,” Collyn shared in an Instagram comment. “She loved nothing more than being surrounded by family who she adores, smiling and cheering for her.”

Kona ended her seventh birthday with heartfelt hugs from everyone and a belly full of peanut butter cake. She has spent every day since feeling incredibly thankful for her wonderful family, who feel just as fortunate to have her.

“I couldn’t love her more,” Collyn posted on Instagram.
